A Fresh Approach to Programming for General Conference 2019
One of the things we are excited to share with you is how the programming portions of General Conference will be redesigned for our 2019 gathering. Rather than an overwhelming number of workshops, pop topics, and plenaries, we are inviting you to two deeper, more focused experiences.
General Conference will open with a few events to help us Celebrate our history and prepare us for the business-related gatherings on Monday afternoon and Tuesday. General Conference Programming with start with an exciting, fun night of Celebration at the 50th Anniversary Gayla Sunday night. The Opening Plenary will feature stories and tools for living generously. Each night we will have celebrations, entertainment, and affinity group meeting times.
On Wednesday, programming will feature a 24-hour retreat. During this time we will be led by guest facilitators and authors who will help us nurture our souls after all the ministry, activism, and service we have performed over the last three years.
On Thursday and continuing until the close of conference midday on Friday, programming will focus on resources. On Thursday afternoon, a small set of highly curated workshops will be presented, and Friday morning will feature a Resource Fair where all churches at General Conference will be asked to share their one best resource (a worship resource, a class resource, a training resource for ministry leaders, etc.). This means everyone should be able to leave conference with a whole stack of MCC-tested resources (and the info of the source church, pastor, or leader to contact with any questions)!
We hope this model, focused both on practical resources and personal spiritual renewal, excites you as much as it does the General Conference Core Team and MCC Leadership! See you in Orlando in 2019!
